About me

My biggest gripe about blogs is that they can often slide into the self-indulgent, so I will try to keep this short. Those of you who know me, know me. Those of you who don’t, probably care more about the poker.

I started playing the game after watching Late Night Poker on Channel 4. The show innovated the hole cameras that were later used in the World Series of Poker and other major tournaments, enabling viewers to see players’ cards.

A group of friends and I started playing home games, which eventually migrated to the school grounds. Obviously, gambling doesn’t go down too well with teachers, leading to several of us being suspended.

My online poker career began at PartyPoker, but I quickly switched to Pokerroom as it had more convenient cashout options for UK-based players. Between 2002 and 2005, I enjoyed my ‘Golden Years’ of poker as a university student with large quantities of disposable income.

When Pokerroom closed, my account was moved to Bwin where I have played the majority of my poker since. I can count myself fortunate enough to be a winning player on SharkScope, something the site notes only one-third of people achieve.

After graduating, I stopped playing regularly for about 3-4 years while real life got in the way but I hope the Challenge will give me the motivation (and the bankroll!) to reclaim some past glories.
